CIPP Lateral Drain Lining

Renewal Instead of Replacement

Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) drain lining is a proven method to repair and renew existing pipes while eliminating the need to dig or open cut a building’s finished interior. In recent years, CWW’s lateral sewer and drain rehabilitation specialists have installed as much as 30 km of lateral sewer CIPP, and completed several complex drain lining projects in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. More specifically, our list of completed projects include hospitals, prisons, schools, high-rise condominiums, oil refineries, restaurants, and various manufacturing plants.

We encounter many types of drain defects in old pipes. Defects vary from simple cracks or fractures causing leaks to complete blockages caused by accumulations of debris such as roots, calcite and cast-iron pipe corrosion. These buildups of debris inevitably cause backups and related damages.

CWW’s CIPP drain liners are engineered to renew existing pipes by re-establishing the structural components of the system while increasing flow and hydraulic capacity.

We recommend CIPP liners for the rehabilitation of pipes that display defects such as roots, cracks, fractures, holes, open or offset joints, water infiltration or wear and deterioration from years of use.

Examination and Diagnosis Drain Renewal

CWW professionals inspect each project’s requirements to determine the pipe access needed to install liners. Liners can be installed through existing cleanouts. For larger scale projects, our plumbing and drain specialists carefully prepare small excavation pits in the floor or temporary holes to provide the required access to install the liners. We strategically plan the locations of these pits and holes to minimize the number of excavations and modifications to walls and ceilings.

With the proper access points in place, we inspect and clean the pipe in preparation for lining. Next, we use rotating blades or a flusher to blast away roots, calcite, cast-iron pipe corrosion and other debris. Once the pipe is clean, we examine and confirm pipe diameter and length. Our lateral liners are designed to seamlessly mould to the exact configuration of the pipe regardless of a potential change in the lateral pipe material or to the diameter of the section of pipe designated for rehabilitation. Our professionals verify the potential presence of secondary plumbing and drain connections. When connections are present, we can deploy a mini robotic cutter to reopen the connection after the liner is installed. In the final step, we inspect and test the liner before closing up any excavation pits and temporary access points we may have created.

Benefits of CIPP Drain Lining

• Cost-effective
When the rehabilitation of a pipe is required and the pipe location is nearly inaccessible, CIPP is by far the most effective means of drain repair. It costs far less and performs far better than conventional cut-and-replace methods.

• Unobtrusive
We install CIPP liners from an existing cleanout or a temporary access point thus eliminating the need for messy trench excavations and wall cuts. CIPP lining can renew a typical building drain of 100mm to 150mm diameter and 30m in length in as little as six hours, minimizing sewer and water interruptions to the building occupants.

• Enhanced Performance
Homeowners often ask whether reducing a pipe’s diameter by installing a pipe within an existing pipe will compromise the performance of their sewer line. Quite the opposite, in fact. Not only will a CIPP structural liner restore the structural integrity of the pipe, but it will also improve the overall hydraulic characteristics of the pipe as a result of the smooth finish of the CIPP liner.
