CIPP’s Versatility Featured in Trenchless Technology

Staying on schedule and within budget is no easy feat especially during a global pandemic. That being said, as written by our Chief Estimator, SME, Nicolas Brennan, CWW seems to overcome any challenge that comes their way.

In his article, Nicolas illustrates CIPP’s versatility. Partnered with contract administrators from AECOM and Robinson Consultants, the team collaborated on a project for Toronto Water in February 2020 with liner installations scheduled from March to May 2020.

Mr. Brennan describes the team’s sense of urgency for safety and efficiency as the world was shutting down before their eyes. With a decisive and coordinated crew on the job, the project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule earning CWW an early-completion incentive.

The crew ran into multiple speedbumps when it came to pipe access with respect to time constraints. Rather than opting for traditional curing methods, they collectively decided that the air-inversion and steam-cure method was the way to go. Amin Shojaei, CWW Project Manager, said it best, “While the traditional method for CIPP lining of large diameter sewers is water-inversion and hot-water-cure, this option would require up to 48-hour around-the-clock and didn’t fit in our construction time windows. We opted instead for the air-inversion and steam-cure method for most liners thus minimizing our site occupancy.”
